The three-year training programme for qualified nurses (formerly Krankenschwester/Krankenpfleger) is one of the most important professional qualifications in the German healthcare system. It provides comprehensive knowledge and practical skills for supporting and caring for people of all ages in hospitals, care facilities and outpatient services.
Since the reform of nursing education in 2020, the programme has been designed as a generalist qualification
This means that
nursing trainees learn to care for children, adults and older people
equally and can work in every nursing sector after graduation.
Training objectives
The programme prepares nurses for a modern, demanding and responsible profession. After successfully completing it, you are entitled to use the protected professional title “Pflegefachfrau” or “Pflegefachmann” and work in Germany and all other EU member states.
Programme starts four times a year: 1 February, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October.
